Douglas Valley Lions A charitable organisation for individuals age 18 upwards undertaking fund-raising activities. The Room at the Top Newburgh’s own folk club offering an evening of music, poetry, verse or whatever, held at The Red Lion Hotel every Monday (except Bank Holidays) from 8.30pm to 11pm. Archery: The Bowmen of Skelmersdale run regular archery beginners’ courses throughout the year.
The club is family friendly with members aged eight and over. Anyone with an interest in archery welcome. The Bowmen are renowned for holding numerous national and world archery records.

Darts: Burscough league matches on Friday nights from August

The Phoenix Diving club train at Nye Bevan pool in Skelmersdale every Wednesday from 9-10pm. Anyone interested should contact phoenix@phoenixsac.org or leave contact details at the Clubhouse.

Club facilities: Club room, licensed bar, pool, darts, juke box, large screen Sky TV. All Sky Premiership Plus games televised along with Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2 matches. Newburgh Women’s Institute: Meets at 7.30pm on third Monday of the month in Newburgh School for interesting talks on a wide range of subjects, followed by refreshments and chat. Parbold and Newburgh Garden Society: Meets monthly on Wednesdays at Parbold WI Hall. Speakers on topics to help you manage and enjoy your garden. Annual plant sale in May offering annual and hardy plants raised locally – many by the Society’s members – and sold at very reasonable prices. Society always willing to help with gardeners’ problems. Scout Group For boys and girls aged 10½ -14 years. Meets Fridays 6.30pm - 8pm at Newburgh School.  Activities include climbing, archery, cycling and swimming. We take part in Ormskirk and West Lancs District activities and have occasional days at Tawd Vale Scout Camp.  Annual St George’s Day Service at Ormskirk Parish Church.
