A representative from the company has agreed to attend to give an overview of the costs, benefits and to talk through some of the success stories. Please feel free to come along and join us where you will also be able to meet your PACT (Police and communities Together) Panel and your local Neighbourhood Policing Team.

What is SmartWater?
SmartWater is the ultimate theft deterrent which uses state-of-the-art forensic technology to protect homes and businesses from criminal victimisation. Each SmartWater system contains a unique DNA-style forensic code which is simply dabbed into the nooks and crannies of your valuables. Each SmartWater code is stored on a secure database together with the owner’s details making them uniquely identifiable. The Rural Neighbourhood Policing Team have recently been successful in securing their second round of funding from The Lancashire Partnership against Crime for their Smartwater Solutions 2 initiative.

During the 1st phase a team of Police volunteers assisted the rural policing team in the distribution of 59 Smartwater kits to vulnerable people living in sheltered accommodation in the Parbold, Wrightington, and Newburgh and Appley Bridge parishes. The Police and Communities Together Panel for the area have discussed and set a list of eligibility criteria for the next phase.

Only open to residents of Parbold, Hilldale, Bispham, Wrightington, Appley Bridge, Newburgh and Dalton.

Previous Burglary Dwelling victims.

Most recent victims a priority

3. HIGH

Elderly

Those of state pension age. Other factors to consider will include other vulnerabilities such as impaired sight hearing and mobility.

4.MEDIUM

Isolated Residents

Isolated resident combined with another degree of vulnerability.

5. MEDIUM

Previous burglary victims other than a dwelling.

For example, sheds, garages and outhouses

6. LOW

No occupancy for significant periods of the year.

Work or domestic reasons causing the occupier to be away from home.

On location alone

This will be judged on merit based on specific reasons of concern.

Smartwater kits will be allocated in order of priority as detailed above. Due to limited funding persons who fall within the lower categories may not be issued a smartwater kit during this phase and may only be considered on the receipt of future funding.
The PACT (Police and Communities Together Panel) will have the final decision in respect of all applicants who apply under this scheme.
