Closure of the A5209, Alder Lane, Parbold.
The County Surveyor has advised that the A5209 will be completely closed from Higher Lane to
Lancaster Lane. The reason for closure from 28th July 2008 for about three to four weeks is to
allow carriageway resurfacing/reconstruction and drainage improvement to take place.
For through traffic, the designated alternative route is Lancaster Lane, Chorley Road, Robin Lane,
Mains Lane, Wanes Blades Road, Hoscar Moss Road, Ring O’ Bells Lane, then back on to the A5209
(Lowry Hill Lane, Course Lane). The diversionary route will be well signed particularly for the M6 as
the last thing we want is for large vehicles arriving in Newburgh with nowhere to go.
Local people will have to find their own way round the road closure depending on their destination.
Please note that there may well be operational changes during the period of this work.
Our local bus services will be affected particularly in the Parbold direction but at the time of writing,
details are not to hand. Bus users will need to look out for information posted locally by the bus company
or the County Council.
