The Room at the Top Newburgh’s own folk club offering an evening of music, poetry, verse or whatever, held at The Red Lion Hotel every Monday (except Bank Holidays) from 8.30pm to 11pm. Newburgh Sports Club, King George V Playing Field, Cobbs Brow Lane

Cricket: Saturday and Sunday League teams and under 11s, 13s and 15s Junior League teams. ‘Friendlies’ ad hoc mixed age team. Indoor nets at Glenburn School, Skelmersdale, on Sunday afternoon until the end of March and indoor coaching and nets for boys and girls age 9-15 at Glenburn School on Saturday lunchtimes from March 1. Football: Newburgh United FC – Saturday League 1st & 2nd teams. Newburgh United Junior FC – Under 15 League team. Also Harrock FC Sunday (XI) Senior League team based at Newburgh.

Darts: Ormskirk league matches take place on Monday evenings.

Pool league team – participating in the Burscough Pool League on Tuesday evenings at 9pm.

The Phoenix Diving club meet at the clubhouse following training at Nye Bevan pool in Skelmersdale every Wednesday from 9-10pm. Anyone interested should contact phoenix@phoenixsac.org or leave contact details at the Clubhouse.

Club facilities: Club room, licensed bar, pool, darts, juke box, large screen Sky TV. With all Sky Premiership Plus games televised along with Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2 matches. Small kitchen facilities. Changing rooms and showers. Club available for funeral wakes, other social and business activities and meetings by arrangement.

Newburgh Women’s Institute: Meets at 7.30pm on third Monday of the month in Newburgh School for interesting talks on a wide range of subjects, followed by refreshments and chat. Parbold and Newburgh Garden Society: Meets monthly on Wednesdays at Parbold WI Hall. Speakers on topics to help you manage and enjoy your garden. Annual plant sale in May offering annual and hardy plants raised locally – many by the Society’s members – and sold at very reasonable prices. Society always willing to help with gardeners’ problems. The Grove Youth, Community and Children’s Centre

A purpose built centre with a range of activities, rooms for rent for parties, private meetings, etc and a new Children’s Centre for 0 to 5s.  Activities include:
Monday –  Stay and Play Session for parents and young children
Tuesday – Stay and Play session for under-25  parents and children
Tuesday pm and evening – various groups and activities
Wednesday 5.30 – 8.00 Junior youth Groups ( arts, crafts, music, short courses etc
